Kali Eskrima Arnis Information
| Filipino martial arts (FMA) are martial arts that originated in the Philippines. They integrate a
system-of-systems approach to combat readiness. Filipinos have made significant sacrifices to develop their arts. Throughout the ages multi-cultural, multi-national invaders of the Philippines imposed new dynamics for human conflict and combat.
Much of today's training is with the use of rattan sticks, bahi
eskrima sticks and kamagong sticks.
Arts called Kali Eskrima, Arnis, and Escrima have gained popularity over the past two decades by some of the most well known FMA instructors such as Grandmaster Angel Cabales, Guro Dan Inosanto, Guro Nathan Defensor, the Dog Brothers, Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje, Punong Edgar Sulite and many, many
others.
| FMA transformed
as a direct result of an appreciation of
the ever changing environment and circumstance of the Philippines. The Filipinos' intrinsic need for self-preservation was the evolutionary genesis of these analogous systems. They learned often out of necessity how to prioritize, allocate and utilize common resources in combative situations.
